ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, and Federal Minister for National History and Literary Heritage Shafqat Mahmood on Thursday held previous governments responsible for the current situation of the country.

As the parliamentary session of the National Assembly (NA) resumed, Mahmood said those who had committed massive corruption were being presented as leaders [by opposition parties].

“Ineffective policies of former governments destabilised [functioning] of the state institutions,” he said, adding that rose petals have been showered on corrupt leaders when they move outside.

“When crackdown is done against corrupt people, then it is said that democracy is in danger,” he said, adding that those who had stormed into courthouses, in the past, were [pretending] to be supporters of democracy today.

He also recalled the incident of Model Town Tragedy, and said innocent people were killed in the previous tenure of the government, and the state was put into burden of massive debt in the same period.
