He said the previous government had turned state institutions into loss-making entities.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would not have formed its government had it engaged in “politics of taking turns and ruling the country”.

“Everybody has sought an NRO. Everything will be fine for the opposition if (government) decides not to proceed with cases against them,” he said in an exlusive interview with ‘Mahaaz’.

The minister made it clear that it was upto the government to consider or dismiss the possibility of a Non-Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as “prosecution is ours”.

He said the previous government had turned state institutions including the national flag carrier (PIA), Steel Mills, Radio Pakistan, and APP into loss-making entities.

“They have been turned to worst. Whenever we talk of or try to reform state institutions there is always hue and cry from the opposition. There is a gap of $12 billion,” he added.

Referring to Pakistan’s political history and the role of military, Chaudhry said: “Nawaz Sharif was a product of GHQ like many others at the time. He even lost councillor election.”

The minister while commenting on the work ethic of the prime minister said Imran Khan was working tirelessly in order to steer Pakistan out of its crises.

“Imran Khan has devoted himself completely to his cause. Everyone knows that he is not doing this for himself but for his country. He is the best man for Pakistan,” he added.
