Massive power breakdown hits parts of Karachi, Balochistan

According the K-Electric spokesperson, 70 percent area of Karachi is without electricity.

KARACHI/Quetta (Dunya News) – Power supply from National Grid Station was suspended after light rain in Karachi on late Friday, plunging 70 pecent area of Karachi and parts of Balochistan into darkness, Dunya News reported.

Several grid stations in Karachi were shut down after extra high tension line tripped, plunging almost 70 percent area of the city into darkness. Localities around Red Zone, Governor House and Chief Minister House were also without electricity.

It is pertinent to mention here that Karachi has been hit by a massive power breakdown for the second time in this week. According the K-Electric spokesperson, 70 percent area of the city is without electricity.

Several cities of Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas divisions were also by the power breakdown. According to Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) spokesman, after the repair work, National Power Control Center Islamabad and the Regional Control Centre Jamshoro will restore electricity by checking the voltage.

Most parts of Balochistan were also plunged into darkness after power supply from National Grid Station was suspended. Power supply in the province was restored through alternative sources after several hours.
