Amnesty scheme announced to benefit rulers: Rabbani
Economic Council has no legal value.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former Senate chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Friday while strongly opposing the tax amnesty scheme said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has challenged the parliament by unveiling a scheme to give benefit to the rulers.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Friday, he strongly criticised the scheme and said that by announcing the package ahead of the end of its tenure, the government has bypassed both the Houses of the Parliament.
Economic Council has no legal value, he added.
Rabbani went on to say that the government was trying to whiten the black money earned through illegal means.
The PM has violated the constitution, he said and added the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) would oppose if any ordinance is brought.
