Govt considering replacement, not removal of Tariq Fatemi: Dar
Dar said that the investigation committee didn't suggest to remove Tariq Fatemi.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Wednesday has said that the government is considering to replace Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi instead of sacking him from the post in Dawn leaks case.
During his visit to United States, the finance minister said that the recommendations of the investigation report over Dawn leaks case would be implemented. He said that the committee didn’t suggest to remove Tariq Fatemi however, his replacement will be an administrative decision.
Talking about Panama Leaks case, Dar said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s name was not in the list and that the joint investigation team (JIT) will be constituted according to the law.
He warned that those elements who are working against the integrity of Pakistan will not be spared. He further said that the government of Pakistan would not allow anybody to use its territory against any other country.
Giving details of his meetings with officials of Trump administration in the White House, the finance minister said that Kashmir issue, defence and relations with Afghanistan and India were comprehensively discussed in during different sessions.
Ishaq Dar also said that his meeting with US National Security Advisor was very positive and useful and termed it a new beginning in Pak-US relations. He further informed that Dr. Shakeel Afridi also came under discussion with Trump administration officials.
Shedding light on the business sector, Dar expressed the hope that gross domestic product (GDP) growth over five percent will be achieved during the current fiscal year.
He said that Pakistan Infrastructure Bank will be established with a sixty percent stake of International Monetary Fund (IMF) while Asian Development Bank has also expressed willingness to be part of this initiative. He said the bank will finance private sector for development projects.
