Imposing Section 144 in the current situation is not a sensible thing to do, says Salman

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – While talking to Dunya TV, renowned legal expert Salman Akram Raja expressed that imposing Section 144 in the current situation is not a sensible thing to do. He also expressed his grief over the situation.

Salman Akram Raja also professed that storming an indoor meeting is a serious question mark on government’s role in the current situation. However, he also revealed that based on the situation that was created as a consequence, government had to take action based on Section 144 of the law.

While responding to a question from Dunya News anchor regards to indoor meeting, Salman Akram Raja revealed that it also depend upon the whereabouts of the indoor meeting. He professed that setting up tents on roadside (and establishing meeting over there) does not qualify it to be an indoor meeting. However, the renowned legal advisor let it be known that storming inside indoor places is a highly objectionable act. 

Salman Akram Raja also expressed that if the court has ordered the protestors to pursue their sit-in at a specific place without disturbing the daily routine of public, then the orders should be acted upon as it falls under basic rights.

He revealed that the fate of arrested workers would also be let known through court.

Salman Akram Raja made it evident that baton charge and beat-up does not fall under Section 144 and misbehavior with woman workers is highly objectionable.
