Islamabad: Electricity worth millions of Rs stolen by dominant mafia
Several times a high-voltage line was broken due to which several children were reported injured
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Despite directives given by Water and Power Ministry to take action against electricity evaders, electricity worth millions of rupees was stolen right under Islamabad Electric Supply Company s (IESCO) supervision as all the relevant officials seemed ignorant in this regard, reported Dunya News on Monday.
Approximately, 150 to 200 hooks had been placed on main electricity lines to acquire illegal electricity in Capital s I-9 Sector. Moreover, the residents believed that electricity had been stolen with IESCO officials and hook mafia s mutual consent.
Despite complaints registered in IESCO, the officials seemed least bothered in taking action against the culprits, the residents added. Several times a high-voltage line was broken due to which several children were reported injured.
