Power shortfall exceeds 3000 MW as hot weather continues in country

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Energy crisis has continued to prevail in the country despite government‘s tall claims as power generation has restricted to 15000 MW against the demand of 18000 MW amid ongoing intense heatwave in most parts of the country, reported on Thursday.
Sources privy to National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) told that electricity shortfall has escalated to 3000 MW.
According to new schedule issued by authorities, urban areas would face six hours of power cut while eight hours of load shedding would be carried out in rural areas.
The officials have also claimed that no unannounced power outage is being done in any area.
The locals would also bear massive electricity outage during Ramzan month.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali assured to eliminate power cut by March 2018.
The ruling party said that work is underway on power generation and laying new transmission lines in addition to upgrade the distribution system.
