Load shedding duration increases as power shortfall reaches 4000 MW
The locals would face massive electricity outage during Ramzan month.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Energy crisis has continued to prevail in the country despite government‘s tall claims as power generation has restricted to 12,500 MW against the demand of 16,500 MW amid ongoing intense heatwave in most parts of the country, reported on Monday.
Sources privy to National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) told that electricity shortfall has escalated to 4000 MW.
According to new schedule issued by authorities, urban areas would face eight to ten hours of power cut while 12 to 14 hours of load shedding would be carried out in rural areas.
Many areas are also facing water shortages due to load shedding.
The locals would also bear massive electricity outage during Ramzan month.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali assured to eliminate power cut by March 2018.
The ruling party said that work is underway on power generation and laying new transmission lines in addition to upgrade the distribution system.
