KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday has joined in the demand for the release of “Fix it” campaign head Alamgir’s release along with others including PTI leader Imran Ismael. Meanwhile Inspector-General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali expressed his displeasure over the incident and suspended 3 police officers. IG Sindh has also ordered an investigation as to how Alamgir had managed the Chief Minister House.

Alamgir Khan, founder of campaign called “Fix it” was thrown in the lock-up earlier on Thursday. “Fix it” campaign was started in Karachi by Alamgir in an attempt to force politicians to clean the city and cover open manholes and sewers.

According to details, Alamgir apparently took a truck full of garbage to the Chief Minister (CM) House, where his arrival was already anticipated by police. Hence, on his arrival to the building police rushed in action as the garbage started falling on the street. He was immediately taken into custody by the police.

A case has been registered against Alamgir Civil Lines police station by the government while he has been locked behind bars and his truck also confiscated.

The master of “Fix it” seemed distressed behind the bars, saying the police manhandled him and also thrashed the driver, however he seems determined to continue his campaign.

People and supporters of Alamgir gathered outside Civil Lines Police Station and protested against his arrest. Meanwhile, PTI leader Imran Ismail reached the police station and threatened that PTI would protest if Alamgir was not freed soon.

It is of yet not clear why Sindh government has a problem with the “Fix it” campaign.

Reacting to Alamgir s arrest, his father said that his son had no connections with any political party and was only serving his city.
