Faisalabad locals celebrate basant despite govt's warning
The event is being celebrated on a call given by Kite Flying Association.
FAISALABAD (Web Desk) – In violation of ban imposed by the local authorities, citizens in Faisalabad are celebrating basant festival today (Friday), Dunya News reported.
The event is being celebrated on a call given by Kite Flying Association in the city while on the other hand the district administration has imposed section 144 against kite flying.
Last night, police conducted raids in different areas but failed to tackle large number of kite flying enthusiasts.
Kites in large number could be seen flying in Mansoorabad, Canal Road, Nishatabad, Jaranwala Road and Jhang Road areas.

Pakistan has seen many accidents involving kite flying.
Kite-flying is a cultural festival which is misused by applying copper wire and metallic strings causing number of incidents as large number of people had lost their lives.
Some strings are laced with metal shards, others are treated with abrasive chemicals in a bid to cut the string of an opponent‘s kite in a dog-fight.
