District council bans Valentine's Day in Peshawar
No place of 'Western vulgarity' in an Islamic country, the resolution said
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The district council on Friday approved resolution to ban Valentine’s Day in the city, Dunya News reported.
According to details, the District Council Peshawar’s session began under headship of Convener Syed Qasim Ali Shah in which District Assembly’s member Khalid Waqas Chamkani tabled a resolution to ban the ‘day of love’.
The resolution passed by a majority vote as per which the ‘Western holiday’ must not be celebrated in an Islamic country.
The resolution said “our country doesn’t permit us to celebrate such vulgar traditions and therefore should immediately be banned”.
