PM Nawaz to visit Qatar on February 10

A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) would be signed by both sides.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be visiting the State of Qatar on 10-11 February 2016, on the invitations of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, the Foreign Office reported on Tuesday.

"The Emir of the State of Qatar paid a landmark visit to Pakistan on 23-24 March 2015. This return visit by the Prime Minister in a period of less than one year is a testimony of growing relations between the two brotherly countries. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation," the FO stated.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will have meetings with the Emir and his counterpart, besides calls on him by important Cabinet Ministers of Qatar. The two sides would also hold wide-ranging delegation level talks.

A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the field of Health, Radio & Television, Education & Research and a Long-term Sale/Purchase Agreement (SPA) of LNG would be concluded by both sides.

The main focus of the Prime Minister’s visit and interaction with the Qatari leadership will be on further enhancement of bilateral relations in various fields, including energy cooperation, trade and investment, defence and increase in employment opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in Qatar. Both leaders would also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Qatar hosts more than 115,000 Pakistanis, who have been contributing towards the development and prosperity of the country and act as a bridge between the peoples of two brotherly countries.

Pakistan gives great importance to its ties with Qatar. The two countries enjoy friendly and fraternal relations marked by close cooperation. Both sides share perception on various regional and international issues.
