The supreme leaders were briefed about electricity supply through CASA-1000

MURREE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon on Friday have held a meeting in Murree at the Governor House.

The supreme leaders were briefed about electricity supply through CASA-1000 project.

Several prominent government representatives including Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Advisor on National Security and Foreign Security (NSA) Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi attended the briefing.

The Tajikistan President was accompanied by incumbent Foreign and Interior ministers.

Earlier on Thursday, Nawaz and Emomali signed an agreement to cooperate in energy sector.

Fatemi briefed the Tajikistan President over regional security where National Highways Authority (NHA) Chairman talked about different ongoing projects.

PM Nawaz said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would boost regional economy while improve connections with different countries. The guest President admired ongoing projects in Pakistan to better infrastructure.

The foreign President later on reached Nur Khan Airbase and departed for Tajikistan. PM Nawaz shook hands and saw Rahmon off as he left. 

In the previous meeting in the federal capital held yesterday, Nawaz said that Tajikistan holds importance of a gateway for countries in central Asia. He lauded extended land and air connections with Tajikistan. The sides signed an agreement of cooperation in energy sector.

The sides also made a deal regarding hand over of prisoners.
