Rawalpindi: Security forces kill 3 terrorists linked to Khanzada's attack
A sub-inspector of the Elite Force was also martyred while 3 others were injured
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – The security forces including the Elite Force and other law enforcement agencies clashed with the terrorists in the early morning hours of Thursday and killed three terrorists including two women believed to be involved in the suicide attack on Punjab’s late interior minister colonel (r) Shujah Khanzada.
Two of the terrorists detonated themselves during the clash. One suicide attacker was arrested in injured condition.
A sub-inspector of the Elite Force was also martyred while three others were injured during the encouter. The incident occurred near Jorian in Chakri area of Rawalpindi. The operation was conducted on a tipoff regarding militants presence in the area.
The exchange of fire between the law enforcement agencies and terrorists lasted for almost four hours. Sounds of gunfire and explosions rang through the area during the operation.
Security of Adiala Jail was put on high alert during the operation and sirens were sounded.
According to sources, the exterminated terrorists were plotting a terror act during Muharram. The injured officers have been shifted to a nearbyhospital for treatment.
Security sources stated that the operation was conducted with great caution as it occurred in a residential area and took four hours to complete.
It is believed that the operation saw killings of terrorists who were involved in the plot that claimed late interior minister s life in Attock s Shadi Khan village in August. Two suicide bombers had crashed a personal gathering at Khanzada s native office. As many as 18 persons had embraced martyrdom in the attack.
