Doctors in Karachi's Jinnah Hospital break open OPDs' locks, resume treatment

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Jinnah Hospital’s doctors on Friday have started treatment of patients after a faction of paramedical staff called off four-day long strike last evening.

The doctors broke locks today in the morning that the protesters had put to Outdoor Patient Departments (OPD). The paramedical staff had observed a four-day long strike that started on September 14 for restoration of Health Risk Allowance.

More than 250 operations were postponed in the four days due to the act. More than 20,000 patients and locals were deprived of medical facilities during the strike.

The Sindh government had negotiated with the paramedical staff on Thursday evening and assured the protesters of meeting their demands. The staffers called the strike off after talks with the government.

Reports regarding division among the protesters surfaced earlier. One faction vowed to continue strike until issuance of the allowance while the other ended on government s request.
