RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – At least 14 suspected militants were killed when PAF fighter jets pounded militant hideouts in Shawal valley of the North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), several militant hideouts were also destroyed in the airstrikes.

The airstrikes are part of ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb against foreign and local militants in North Waziristan, a tribal region near the Afghan border that is used as a base by the insurgents to attack the rest of Pakistan.

Militants who carry out attacks on both sides of the border have long been based in Pakistan s remote western tribal regions.

Army launched a massive anti-terrorism operation in North Waziristan in June 2014 and recaptured most of areas. More than three thousand terrorists have been killed till now.
