Rangers raid Asim Hussain's hospital, detain Deputy MD

Former minister Dr Asim Hussain is also the chairman of the Ziauddin Group of Hospitals.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – In an ongoing investigation against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain, Rangers personnel today (Saturday) reached Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad and detained Deputy Managing Director Dr Yousaf.

According to sources, Rangers personnel entered the hospital’s finance department and confiscated several records as well.

On the other hand, Rangers men raided house of Saleem Zakki, business partner of Asim Hussain, in Clifton area but no arrest was made. 

Dr Asim Hussain – a former petroleum minister and close friend of PPP co-chairperson President Asif Ali Zardari – was arrested on August 26 on various charges including corruption, assisting the terrorists and land grabbing.

He is also incumbent chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Sindh chapter and the chairman of the Ziauddin Group of Hospitals in Karachi.

Rangers authorities are engaged in a large-scale anti-crime and anti-terrorism operation in Karachi, the capital of the Sindh province, which the PPP governs.
