Housemaid violence case: man, spouse jailed on judicial remand

LAHORE (Dunya news) – A husband and his wife on Wednesday were shifted to the jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The couple was implicated in the case of beating and violence against a minor housemaid.

According to the details, the couple who allegedly beat the 10-year-old housemaid named Ansar was presented in a court in Model Town. The court sent the accused Kaleem and his wife Saima to the jail on judicial remand.

Ansar is a resident of Haveli Lakhan. She had been employed in a house in Muslim Town area as a housemaid in exchange for Rs. 26 thousand by her parents.

The officials of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau took the young girl into protective custody when the incident of violence was reported to it on Tuesday. The girl was given a medical exam after which it was declared that the injuries sustained were one month old. The Bureau expressed its reservation on the medical report and appealed for the formation of a medical board in this regard.

The girl’s mother called the injuries sustained by the young girl a result of falling from the stairs. The father of the girl declared the injuries were due to beating and violence sustained by the girl. The conflicting statements by the parents has made the case even more confusing.
