Govt approved two bills taking advantage of opposition's boycott in KP Assembly

PESHAWAR: (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) government has formed political ‘jirga’ (committee) to persuade the opposition. Taking advantage of opposition’s boycott, KP government approved two bills in the assembly on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.

KP Assembly session was presided over by Speaker Asad Qaiser. Zakat and Ushr Amendment Bill 2014 and Senior Citizen Bill 2014 were approved during the session. Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid presented the Law Officer Appointment Bill 2014.

Opposition members boycotted the session. A jirga has been formed to persuade the disgruntled opposition that includes Senior Minister for Local Bodies Inayat Ullah Khan, Senior Minister for Health Shehram Khan Tarkei and Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani. Jirga members will meet the opposition members tonight.

Fateha was recited for the people who died in Khairpur incident. Mushtaq Ghani said that Khairpur incident was tragic. He informed that the KP government was in touch with the Punjab and Sindh governments and has requested the two governments to send the dead bodies of the people belonging to KP as soon as possible.
