NA-149 by-polls: Voters cast vote after showing it to polling agents
The voter is required to mark/stamp the ballot paper in the screened off compartment.
MULTAN (Web Desk) – In a blatant violation of ECP rules, voters cast their votes after showing it to polling agents at polling station number 205 of NA-149 constituency in Multan.
TV footage showed voters stamping the ballot papers and then showing it to polling agents.
Under the Constitution, elections are to be held by secret ballot. Therefore, the voter is required to mark/stamp the ballot paper in the screened off compartment in the polling station, not in view of any other individuals or polling staff.
Later, Regional Election Commissioner took notice of Dunya News’ report. He said strict action will be taken against voters and presiding officers if found involved.
