"Current Government has started working on 21000 MW energy projects" - Federal Minister

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervez Rasheed has said that load shedding could have become history by now if Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) took the matter seriously. He said that PPP had five years in power but failed to curb the menace of load shedding.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader said that the government was seriously pursuing the energy projects and has already started energy projects that will generate 21000 mega watts of electricity, once completed.

Criticizing PPP, the Senator said that the previous government could have ended load shedding during its 5 year tenure but it did not take any steps in this regard. “Had they tried to put an end to this load shedding, they would not need protest today”, added Pervez Rasheed.

Moreover, the Federal Minister said that the PPP will appreciate the government’s energy policy in the days to come. He said that the PML (N) government will rid Pakistan of load shedding in its five year tenure. PML-N leader also reminded the PPP of the statements its leaders had made earlier. “PPP leaders should remember the statements their leaders made on the inauguration of Thar Coal Power Project”, said Pervez Rasheed.

PPP staged a protest against the federal government in Karachi today (Sunday) outside K-Electric (KE). The party demonstrated in various other cities of Sindh including Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Larkana, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Mirpur Khas. PPP leaders criticized the government while making speeches during the protest. They accused the Federal Government of maltreating Sindh.
