NA passes resolution urging government to lift ban on YouTube
The video sharing website was blocked in September 2012.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – National Assembly today (Tuesday) passed a resolution urging the government to take immediate steps to lift ban on video sharing website YouTube, Dunya news reported.
The resolution was moved by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Shazia Marri.
MNA Arif Alvi demanded that a special committee be formed to look in to the matter.
The chair referred the bill to the concerned committees of the House.
The video sharing website was blocked in September 2012 after its administration and Google Incorporation refused to comply with a request by Pakistan and some other Muslim countries to remove a blasphemous video from the site.
