Electricity shortfall rises to 5550 mega watts

Eight hours of load shedding in cities and load shedding of 14 hours recorded in rural areas

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Electricity shortfall has on Tuesday risen to 5550 mega watts as eight hours of load shedding was recorded in the cities and 14 hours of load shedding was recorded in the rural areas, reported Dunya News.

As the weather has become hotter, load shedding has increased throughout the country too. According to sources, the current requirement of the country is 19,550 mega watts while the production is 14,000 mega watts.

The shortfall has rised by 3000 mega watts during the last ten days. Ministry of Water and Power claims that 3500 mega watts are being produced from water, 2500 from GENCOs and 8000 from IPPs.
