Indian board received at least 200 prank calls the day after India's WC journey ended

(Web Desk) – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received at least 200 prank calls from Pakistan and India singing the infamous ‘Mauka Mauka’ song. Something BCCI officials say they never expected would come back at them like that, according to a report appeared in an Indian paper.

According to details, the calm at BCCI office was shattered when their landline numbers were bombarded with telephone calls.

“The BCCI office number is available on our website. These over-zealous people were simply happy that India lost. They pulled a prank on us but after a point it got really irritating. The advertisement was popular but I didn’t expect it to come back at us like this,” a BCCI staff said as quoted by the Indian Express.

“We got the telephone company to trace the origin of these calls. A large number of them were from Bangladesh, while the rest were from Pakistan”.

The Mauka Mauka is a catchy Qawali jingle from Indian network Star Sports’ World Cup commercial that went viral on the internet during the season.

The infamous Mauka guy is a character from the commercial that is shown growing older for the opportunity of India’s defeat at the hands of Pakistan at a World Cup match. The character is then shown in multiple follow up ads waiting for India’s defeat against any other team in the tournament.

The #MaukaMauka also trended in Pakistan and India on Thursday when India lost to Australia in the semifinal.
