'US satisfied with security of Pakistans nuclear arsenals'

The arrangements in place to guard Pakistans nuclear weapons and installations are sufficient and adequate and the United States (U.S) is satisfied with their security, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said. In an interview with an Arab TV Gates maintained that Pakistan was an ally of the U.S, adding that he was sure there was no chance of terrorists to reach to the Pakistans nuclear arsenals. Pakistans arrangements for the nuclear installations and weapons are sufficient and it has been an important American ally in War on Terror, Gates believed. He conceded that U.S left Pakistan on its own after the Soviet Union ousted Afghanistan. U.S and Pakistan fought together against Soviet Union and leaving Pakistan alone was a big military mistake. America will not repeat it, Gates added. He claimed that U.S had learnt lesson from the past and now Pakistan and Afghanistan could trust U.S. On a question Gates replied that Pakistan was concerned on the stability in its border areas and Afghanistan which was also shared by U.S. Our stance on the stability of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the region is same, he elaborated. Gates praised the Pakistan governments performance in Swat, adding that there was a complete consensus on it in the country
