A political party has requested ECP to allot it donkey as electoral symbol for general elections.

ISLAMABAD: According to details, an MP of PML-N requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to allot him the electoral symbol of a ‘donkey’ for the next general elections as he wants to register his separate party.

The Election Commission, in reply to the request, stated that there is no electoral symbol resembling a ‘donkey’ registered with the Commission.

The applicant held the stance that the electoral sign allotted to his party should not resemble a ‘horse’ as the difference should be maintained between a horse and a donkey.

The Election Commission replied that a summary is sent to the presidency for the approval of a new symbol but now the time has passed and the request cannot be entertained as little time has left there to hold the general election.
