A passenger on the number 12 in Devon took a big bite out of his leather bus seat – and police have released a CCTV image of a suspect they’d like to speak to.It’s not known whether the hungry traveller gulped down the upholstery or if hed bitten off more than he could chew, but it caused £200 worth of damage.The suppertime snack took place at around 8.20pm on 25 May on a Stagecoach bus at Torbay Road in the resort of Paignton.A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “While travelling between Paignton and Torquay on a number 12 bus, a male passenger started chewing the leather seat he was sat on and continued to pick at the hole with his hand to make further damage. Around £200 of damage was caused.Meanwhile a spokeswoman for Stagecoach told The Guardian the passenger had been on the bus for 20 minutes before his meal on the move. She added: Its not the case that he ate the whole seat.”Police described the suspect as male, late teens to early 20s, 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build. He has short dark hair and was wearing a dark coloured T-shirt and light coloured jeans.Anyone who recognises the suspect is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference FP/12/1659, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
