(Web Desk) - According to a report in Business Insider the game ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ has become an unexpected hit among players and has managed to sell over six million copies in the amazingly short time of six months.
The game, which has managed to fork in more than 150 million dollars by this point, is not even technically finished yet and is only available through the world’s largest digital media store, Steam, where it is available as an "Early Access" item. For those of you who are not gaming nuts this means that while you can buy and play the game it is still not considered a finished item.
The game’s popularity is such that despite being unfinished millions of people have brought it and at any given time of the day hundreds of thousands are playing it. Even better for the game’s developers is that ‘Battlegrounds’ has managed to become the 3rd most played game on Steam with nearly 500,000 gamers playing it. Not only that, but ‘Battlegrounds’ is managing to successfully compete against heavyweight games like ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ and ‘Fallout 4’.

Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, the game’s creative director, took to Twitter to celebrate when ‘Battlegrounds’ took the position of No.3
The reason for the game’s popularity is that it is an unbelievably good game that has managed to couple a bizarre name (the game’s full name ‘PlayerUnknown s Battlegrounds’ makes little sense to many players) with a brilliant gaming concept.
‘Battlegrounds’ takes place on a massive island where a 100 odd people have to survive by battling to the death using only their wits and a scavenge-able arsenal. What makes it more interesting (and different from other similar island survival games) is that each player is on his or her own as at the ending of each match there can be only one winner.
While ‘Battlegrounds’ is doing pretty well for itself till now the future of the game is looking even brighter. It is expected to reach "1.0" by the end of 2017, and it should be arriving on the Xbox One counsel during the same time frame.
This means that if you are a player who enjoys survival games then you better prepare yourself for one furious fight.
