Microsoft launches Bug Bounty Program for finding vulnerabilities
Since 2013, Microsoft has offered cash prizes to the hackers for reporting bugs
WEB DESK (Dunya News) – The best way to find security bugs is to offer money to the people who use software on a daily basis in order to do just that.
The fascinating idea has appealed the Microsoft authorities that have announced a new Bug Bounty Program for Office Insider Builds on Windows.
Through the bug bounty program, Office Insiders can easily score huge sums of money for discovering vulnerabilities. The minimum reward in this new bounty program is USD $5000 and the user can score up to $15,000, but for certain submissions.
"The Microsoft Cloud and Online Services Bounty Program has helped us identify elusive vulnerabilities and provided a way to reward the individuals actively partnering with us to protect our customers. We want to continue incentivizing research around design and logic and reward deeper thought in important areas of Office," Microsoft said.
In order to qualify, the vulnerability would not have to be reported previously and should be unknown and discovered in the latest Office Insider build.
The new version of the software is running on an up-to-date version of Windows 10.
It is pertinent to mention that the bug bounty programs are used by most of the tech giants including Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Uber and Microsoft. The coolest thing about these programs is that they reward the hackers for reporting security bugs.
Moreover, Microsoft has offered a lot of cash prizes to the hackers and researchers for reporting bugs since 2013.
