Huma Akram, the wife of former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram, was laid to rest in Defence Graveyard Lahore on Monday. Former Pakistan batsman Saeed Anwar led the funeral prayers held in Jamia Masjid of DD Block, which were attended by cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed, Salim Malik, Intikhab Alam and Muhammad Yousuf among hundreds of other people including social workers and political figures. Rasm-e-Qul and Quran Khawani will be offered on Tuesday at 5:15 pm in Z-Block Defence. Wasim told reporters that he had lost a close companion and friend and it would be difficult to bear the loss of his wife. I just hope I have the courage and fortitude to raise my two kids properly, he said. Huma, 42, a psychologist and hypnotherapist died in a hospital in Chennai on Sunday after multiple organ failure.
