The chief of banned Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) Maulana Sufi Muhammad was detained by the law enforcement agencies in Peshawar today. The chief of banned outfit was detained from his residence in Peshawar today along with his two sons, Ziaullah and Rizwanullah and a militants commander Nadim. Addressing a news conference, the NWFP minister of information Mian Iftikhar Hussain confirmed the detention of TNSM chief. The minister announced that Sufi would be tried after completion of enquiry. He affirmed that Sufi would not be allowed to subvert the peace again. Maulana Sufi, with its stances supported the terrorist elements of the Swat valley against armed forces, Hussain said. He violated the peace deal after enforcement of the Nizam-e-Adl Regulation at times when government had fulfilled has all demands. Earlier, when contacted, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Peshawar Safoot Ghayoor denied Maulana Sufis detention and on the other hand, the TNSM sources also denied his capture. Sufi Mohammad had surfaced in Peshawar on July 6 for the first time since his disappearance in April from his Amandara headquarters but had avoided meeting or talking to media personnel. He has been residing in a rented house in the Sethi Town area of the city where he held meetings with some displaced people and discussed various matters.
