As he collected his Pride of Britain Special Recognition Award, Tariq, 45, still seemed stunned by the dramatic changes in his life.But in an emotional speech to the star-studded audience at London’s Grovesnor Hotel he insisted he was only doing what any normal father would.His son had been patrolling the streets of Winson Green at the height of the violence.Amid the carnage and crime which shocked the nation to the core, Tariq’s plea for calm stood out.Just hours after his son’s death, Tariq took a stand outside his home and issued a heartfelt plea for peace.
