PCO judges should not undermine the court: CJP

The apex court has given the deadline to the government until August 9 to sack PCO judges.

The CJP vowed the authority of the court could not be undermined. The PCO judges’ case was heard by 5-member SC bench headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry.Chief Justice showed annoyance over government’s reluctance to sack PCO judges despite the court orders. The CJP asked as to why the government has not issued the notification as yet.Babar Awan, representing the federal government, said the summary in this regard had been sent to the prime minister on July 19 but he could not sign it owing to his engagements.
