NA approves supplementary grants worth Rs 6 trillion

The opposition declared the increase in supplementary grants as a failure of the government.

After the National Assembly budget session approved supplementary grants worth Rs 6 trillion, it was suspended for an indefinite period.The government spent twelve percent of additional costs compared to the allocated a budget while an additional Rs 740 million was spent on the cabinet. On the last day of the National Assembly budget session 2010-2011, the government approved Rs 6.34 trillion for supplementary grants. In the current year, additional Rs 33.98 billion were spent on the Department of Commerce.Additional Rs 10 million were spent by the Federal lodges, Rs 7 million by the Prime Minister Secretariat and Rs 7.7 million by the PM Inspection Commission.According to Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh the supplementary grants have increase 12 percent compared to last year. The opposition declared the increase in supplementary grants as a failure of the government. The opposition said that due to the acquiring excessive loans, every Pakistani today is Rs 550 million in debt.On the other hand, the members of the Pakistan People’s party have declared the budget as an accomplishment of the party.
