Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted more rains in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Meteorological Department on Friday predicted more rains in Karachi and other parts of Sindh during next 48 hours, Dunya News reported.

According to Met Office, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate in Sindh from Friday to Monday. Under the influence of this system rain/wind-thundershower, with few moderate to isolated heavy falls, are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umar Kot, Sanghar, Sukkur and Larkana during next 48 hours.

Earlier on Friday, fifth spell of monsoon rain in Karachi has inundated different areas and tripped hundreds of K electric feeders. Surjani Town, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Gulberg, Orangi Town, Yousuf Goth, Gadap Town, Sohrab Goth and other areas were severely affected by the heavy rain.

Many areas were submerged under knee-deep water. The downpour has also caused traffic jams on different roads, creating problems for residents in traveling.

Two youths were killed as lightning struck in Mamon Goth area while one person was electrocuted to death. In another incident two motorcycle riders fell into a nullah in Orangi Town.

On the other hand, heavy rains in Hyderabad have inundated low-lying areas with roads completely submerged and power supply also suspended. Power supply from 190 feeders in HESCO region was also suspended due to rain.

Rains in Tharparkar became a nuisance for its citizens as lightning struck a house in Dodi village and killed the father and son living inside. Two more people were killed in a lightning strike in Chachro while several cattle were also killed in Kloi.

Umerkot, Khapro, Kandyari, Kanri and Daulatpur had heavy downpours and strong winds while Nawabshah, Dadu, Tando Allahyar, Lasbela, Mirpur Khas, Shahdadpur, Sanghar, Tando Adam, Thatta and other areas also flooded.
