EU awards peacekeeping medal to Pakistani soldier
Sepoy Amir Aslam was martyred in the Democratic Republic of Congo on a UN peacekeeping mission
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The European Union has fully acknowledged the services of Pakistan Army in the United Nations Peace Mission and decided to award Pakistani soldier Sepoy Amir Aslam, who was martyred in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Dag Hammarskjold Award.
According to details, a special ceremony was held at the UN headquarters in recognition of the unparalleled services of the Pakistan Army in the UN peacekeeping mission and special homage was paid to the Pakistani soldier Amir Aslam.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesman, EU has acknowledged the services of the Pakistan Army in UN peacekeeping missions saying that it is the country that has played the biggest role in their success. The role of Pakistani women in these missions is also commendable.
In a letter to Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Japanese Ambassador paid tribute to the Pakistan Army and said that Pakistan has played a major and historic role in UN’s peace missions and expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to render its excellent services in the future as well.
