HAYATABAD (Dunya News) – Five terrorists were killed in an operation at a house in Hayatabad – a suburb of Peshawar – and one assistant sub-inspector of police namely Qamar Alam embraced martyrdom, reported Dunya News on Tuesday.

The operation against the terrorists started on Monday night when the police were informed about the presence of the militants in Sector 10 of Hayatabad’s Phase 7.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai confirmed that the building was cleared by the authorities after an exchange of fire between the officials and the terrorists that continued for 16 hours. A woman sustained minor injury in crossfire, and was shifted to the hospital.

Afterwards, the bomb disposal unit recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) from the house. The building was completely demolished as the explosive was detonated inside.

A wave of fear spread in the vicinity when heavy weapons were used. The adjacent area was cordoned off. Pakistan Army also participated in the operation that was monitored by Corps Commander Shaheen Mazhar.

On the other hand, the funeral prayers for Qamar Alam were offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
