SHC seeks replies on delay of local bodies elections

It is the responsibility of the provincial government to hold local bodies elections, court told.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered the Chief Election Commission, deputy attorney general and advocate general to submit a replies regarding delay in local bodies’ elections.A two-member SHC bench comprising on SHC Chief Justice Mashir Alam and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard a writ petition filed by Raheela Gul Magsi. The petitioner stated that the government was not conducting local bodies’ election without any solid reason.The federal government had submitted its reply, stating that it was the responsibility of the provincial government to hold local bodies’ elections.
