The same food that gives satisfaction can prove to be a source of problem if not taken care of.

(WebDesk) – With Eid just a day away, Pakistanis can’t wait to get free from the animal sacrifices and make delicious food to enjoy with their friends and families. Barbecue Parties on Eid days have almost become a tradition now as almost every household looks forward to eating mouthwatering tikkas and kebabs on Eid.

However, the same food that gives satisfaction can prove to be a source of problem if not taken care of. This is because overconsumption of the sacrificial meat can make you sick. According to health experts, not only this but if meat is kept in the freezers for too long, it can also become a reason for having food poisoning this Eid.

The meat should be allowed to set before being consumed so that it is easier to digest, says Faiza Khan.

“When the animal is sacrificed, its meat should not be immediately consumed because at that time the meat is still fresh and hard, which can cause digestion problems. Similarly meat should not be stored in the freezers for too long”, says health expert Faiza Khan

It is also recommended that people suffering from high blood pressure or have problems related to the heart should refrain from eating too much meat as high protein and salt content could cause even higher blood pressure.

Dr. Masroor Ahmed who is the Head of Medicine in Jinnah Sindh Medical University is of the point of view that too much consumption of meat leads to higher cholesterol levels which is obviously harmful for the human body. “Everyone should only consume 1mg/kg body weight of protein. Anything over that is harmful to the body.”

Since the restaurants and dhabas cannot be trusted, doctors also recommend that on Eid everyone should cook meat themselves and refrain from eating meat of anywhere else.
