Elections 2018: Tribunal dismisses appeals against Maryam Nawaz, Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Appellate tribunal has on Saturday continued to hear the appeals against dismissal of nomination papers of candidates contesting for upcoming general elections 2018.

According to details, a petition challenging Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz’s candidature was also dismissed for constituency PP-173 of Punjab Assembly.

Maryam Nawaz had decided to contest the polls from National Assembly constituencies NA-125 and NA-127 in Lahore, and Punjab Assembly constituency PP-173.

The tribunal also issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other parties over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s petition against the verdict of returning officer in Mianwali’s NA-95 constituency.

It has also rejected the objections regarding his nomination papers for NA-243.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s lawyer Tahir Abbasi was granted time for preparation regarding rejection of his client’s papers for NA-57.
