KARACHI (Dunya News) - DIG-South Azad Khan claimed on Friday that Sindh’s Minister for Planning & Development Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani committed suicide after killing his wife Fariha Razak at their residence in Karachi.

Police has confiscated all the footages of CCTV camera and DVR which proves the suicide and murder. Investigation was held from four house servants and two police personnel and their statements were recorded. The servants have alleged that a dispute was ongoing among the couple.

Pistol, bullets, blood samples, fingerprints and other evidence recovered from the study room have been sent for forensic test.

According to DIG-South, Bijrani received one bullet while his wife got three. Both the bodies were found in the study room. Fariha’s body has been shifted to PNS Shifa hospital.

He says that a 30-bore pistol was used in the incident whereas four shells and two bullets were found from the scrime scene.

Post-mortem report says that Bijarani was shot from a close range at the temple while the bullet came out from the other end. The report also suggests that Fariha sustained three bullet wounds on her head, abdomen and leg.

The body of the minister was shifted to his ancestral town Karampur. His funeral prayer will be offered today at 2pm while that of his wife will be held in Karachi.

Earlier, PPP leader Nasir Hussain Shah said there was no sign of stress on Bijarani’s face when he attended the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

"He (Hazar Bijarani) was not that person who would commit suicide," Shah said.

Facts would be unearthed only after the investigation and exemplary punishment will be given if any person found involved in this incident, he warned.

Soon after the news of his death circulated on media, politicians and prominent personalities expressed deep shock and grief over the incident.


Mourning in native town


People in the native town are in mourning and a large number of people are present at his residence to offer condolences.

A shutdown is being observed in many towns while a public holiday has been announced.

All markets, shopping centres, bazaars, commercial streets, shops and business and trade establishment remained closed in cities like Kandhkot, Kashmore, Guddu, Bahu Khoso, Garhi Hassan, Thull and Ghouspur, besides Karampur to mourn the death of the Bijranis.
