Session Judge says polygraph test report irrelevant in court, police failed to submit solid evidence

MULTAN: (Dunya News, AP) – Religious cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi has on Tuesday been granted bail in the Qandeel Baloch murder case as the Session judge observed that polygraph test report was irrelevant in the case proceedings and the police had failed to submit phone recording or any solid evidence of his involvement, reported Dunya News.

According to details, Mufti Abdul Qavi’s bail plea was accepted against certificates worth Rs 200,000. The bail case was heard by session court where Mufti’s lawyer claimed that the police had failed to provide any evidence in the case as yet and thus he should be released on bail.

However, the prosecutor pleaded against releasing him on bail, upon which the session judge remarked that police had failed to submit the phone recording or any other solid evidence to prove that Mufti Abdul Qavi had aided the murderer. He also remarked that the polygraph test had no legal value before the court.

Qawi was arrested last month while fleeing the city.

Baloch was found strangled in her home in the city of Multan after posting racy pictures on Facebook of herself with the cleric.

Baloch s brother, Mohammed Wasim Azeem, has confessed to her murder and is facing trial. Baloch s father blamed Qawi for instigating his son to kill his sister.
