Unfortunate mix-up: Dead bodies mistakenly switched by Chhipa

(Dunya News) – In a rare event, dead bodies of two women stored at Chhipa Welfare Association’s morgue were switched in what appeared to be the negligence of the morgue’s staff.
The family members of late Nafeesa Begum of Lines Area and those of a deceased resident of Shah Faisal Colony had stored the two dead bodies at Chhipa’s mortuary.
When Nafeesa Begum’s sons took the body back home for burial on Tuesday, they discovered that it was not their mother’s.
When they contacted Chhipa Welfare, they were informed that Nafeesa Begum’s dead body was not present in the morgue.
The family members protested against what they termed carelessness of Chippa Welfare’s management.
Eight hours later it was learnt that Nafeesa Begum’s body had accidentally been switched with that of a resident of Shah Faisal Colony and the recipients had already buried it without identification.
Later, Nafeesa Begum’s family handed over the dead body of Shah Faisal Colony’s resident to the family of the deceased.
