Foolproof security across country for Ashura

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Strict security measures are in place across the country pertaining to the Ashura processions on Sunday.
Monitoring cells have been formed in various cities. Pillion riding has been banned in Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar among other cities whereas mobile phone service has been suspended in the surrounding areas of procession’s routes.
In Karachi, all the areas relevant to procession have been cordoned off. At least 9912 police personnel and 7939 Sindh Reserve Police have been deployed for the security of the mourners.
Punjab government has sought assistance from army and Rangers for securing the procession routes. Meanwhile, a traffic plan has also been issued.
The main mourning procession will remain under air surveillance. The routes have been sealed through barbed wires and scanners have been installed.
In Peshawar, more than 10,000 personnel including army, FC have been deployed and 225 CCTV cameras installed to monitor the processions.
At least 50 CCTV cameras have been installed in various areas of Quetta while aerial surveillance is also underway. All the adjoining areas of main procession have been sealed through containers.
Similarly, foolproof security arrangements have been made in Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad and DI Khan.
