ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on behalf of Pakistan Armed Forces, has extended Eid greetings to the nation.

In a tweet early morning Saturday, Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Asif Ghafoor quoted the Army Chief as saying, “"Eid-ul-Azha gives us message of peace, happiness, fraternity and selfless sacrifice for humanity."

Eid-ul-Azha, one of the two most important festivals of the Islamic calendar, is being celebrated with full religious fervour and enthusiasm today.

On this day, Muslims slaughter an animal -- a goat, sheep, cow, bull or camel -- on the annual festival in a ritual that stems from the story of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

Eid congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country. The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of Muslim Ummah and safety and security of the country.
