CM Pervez Khattak confessed to misuse of authority: Ziaullah Afridi
Afridi claims KP CM confessed that seven opposition members did lend support through horse-trading
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Ziaullah Afridi, has laid allegations against Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (CM KP) Pervez Khattak for alleged involvement in horse-trading activities.
Talking to Dunya News, disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) lawmaker Ziaullah Afridi accused CM Pervez Khattak of being involved in illegal, wrong and opportunistic activites and claimed that blockage of funds was being exercised to blackmail lawmakers from opposition benches.
He claimed that Khattak had confessed to the illegal activities, which are termed as ‘Changa-Manga’ politics. He further added that courts and Election Comission of Pakistan (ECP) should take notice of the serious matter at hand and take action against the individuals involved in committing such heinous crimes.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission had arrested Ziaullah Afridi, the Minister for Mineral Development, on charges of misuse of authority and corruption in July 2015. Afridi was accused of posssessing illegal assets and giving contracts to the people of his own choice.
Ehtesab Commission was set up under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission Act (KPECA) 2014 and Lt-Gen (r) Hamid Khan, who had also served as Peshawar Corps Commander, was appointed its first director general on Oct 20, 2014.
According to NAB spokesperson, the officials were accused of leasing out five hundred acres of land belonging to the Ministry for Mines and Mineral for just Rs14,000. The accused also illegally extracted natural resources weighing 50,000 ton, causing millions of Rupees loss to the national exchequer.
