Shahid Khaqan Abbasi receives guard of honor on his arrival at PM House

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would officialy start his work as PM.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Newly-elected Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi received guard of honor on his arrival at the PM House today (Thursday).

According to details, the guard of honor, which was given to the PM by Pakistan Army, was inspected by the premier. National anthem of Pakistan was also played on the occasion. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would officially start his work today.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Mamnoon Hussain had administered oath to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi after he was voted as the leader of the House in National Assembly (NA).

The ceremony was attended by chiefs of the three armed forces among dignitaries. Abbasi had secured 221 votes in the assembly.

On Wednesday, PM Shahid Khaqan said the cabinet ministers will take oath within one or two days, adding that the ruling party was conducting consultation on the names of cabinet members.

While talking to media persons in Murree, he frequently replied with the same answer saying PML-N is discussing the cabinet member names and will soon announce after the deliberation is completed. “In Sha Allah PML-N will win in NA-120 and future endeavors with even more majority,” he said.

It is worth mentioning here that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was ousted by the apex court under Article 62 and Article 63 of the constitution.

The disqaulification of former premier came over Panama Papers leak that was published in April 2016 after sensitive documents of Mossack Fonseca, a law firm were studied by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
