Ex-Railways Minister Saad Rafique said PML-N is considering a review petition in Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has reacted to the unprecedented Panama case verdict saying the decision is not acceptable, stressing that the party workers still trust in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

While talking to the media, former PML-N ministers declared it a black day for democracy in the country. Saad Rafique disapproved the verdict calling it unjust, recalling PTI Chairman a conspirator who held sit-ins in the capital. He highlighted all three strikes suffered by the Nawaz government. The former railways minister advised the party workers to remain peaceful, hinting at a review petition from them.

Barrister Zafarullah complained that there is no reason to declare Nawaz ineligible as he committed no corruption in the tenure while the decision didn’t even mention London flats or kickbacks. PML-N was shocked at the reformation of larger 5-member bench which will rule verdict but still decided to accept the requisites of justice, he said.

While criticising the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report, he accused it of being formed through WhatsApp and said nobody could have collected findings in even one year. Zafarullah responded to a question saying Nawaz Sharif resigned before the issuance of notification by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Another ex-minister Ahsan Iqbal reaffirmed that PML-N votes gave Nawaz Sharif the mandate to rule while the state still stands in 1988. He opined that this is the very reason no PM in Pakistan completed all five years of tenure. “Being a PML-N worker, my trust on the leadership was hiked by 10 times,” he stated.

It should be noted that the federal cabinet was also dissolved as a result of Nawaz s disqualification.
