Pakistani leaders should be questioned as they are lying to nation: Raymond Davis
Davis insisted that the people he mentioned in his book are now declaring him a liar.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – CIA contractor Raymond Davis while talking about his recently published memoir ‘The Contractor’ has said that majority of the people in Pakistan call him a liar while in fact their own leaders have misled them but they are not questioned.
“Many people in Pakistan do not believe in my story while in fact their own leaders have told lies and they should be questioned for it,” Davis said while speaking in the BBC programme ‘Weekend’.
Davis said that he can understand that the people are sentimental about the issue as the incident happened on Pakistani soil. “But, after all it is my story and the people should also try to see the whole matter from my point of view and question leaders of their country about their ever-changing statements,” he said.
Davis insisted that the people he mentioned in his book are now declaring him a liar. “They have their own versions and things they want to say but it is just disapponting that they would go to this extent to try to discredit me and slander my name.”
The CIA contractor pronounced that in Pakistan it is very easy to accuse India of anything if a persom wants to shift the blame from him.
“By doing this the nation becomes furious and do not question the one who is at mistake,” said Davis.
“I don’t know yet who those two people were whom I shot. According to Pakistani media, they were ISI agents whereas the documents submitted in the court shows that the two men had been taken into custody 67 times over robbery charges. Besides this, there were also reports that Lashkar-e-Taiba had announced bounty money for murdering or kidnapping Blackwater officials. It is possible that they attacked me to attain the prize money,” he told.
Raymond Davis went on to say that he was also questioned by the authorities when he travelled back to US.
It is pertinent to mention here that Davis shot dead two people in Lahore in January 2011. However; after spending 49 days of imprisonment he was released as the US government paid $2.34 million to the relatives of the two victims as blood money.
